Quote for the day

True hope dwells on the possible, even when life seems to be a plot written by someone who wants to see how much adversity we can overcome.

True hope responds to the real world, to real life; it is an active effort.

Christmas 2009

So, Christmas this year turned out to be a pretty good day for us! The girls and I made cookies on Christmas Eve and left a note for Santa that explained them to a T!!!! Jasmine did not want to go to bed that night cause she wanted to see Santa, so both girls fell asleep on the couch. Then around 12:30, Jasmine woke up crying asking if she could open her presents and see Santa! It was really cute! The girls loved all their presents. It was a good Christmas because we were all together, and that is the most important thing, to be together for special occasions such as Christmas. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season...now bring on 2010!!!

Quote of the day

"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within".

Christmas Pictures!!

So today the girls and I went to JCPenney's to get our Christmas pictures done! MAN, what a madhouse that place was! We ended up having to go back because even though out appt was at 1120, we didnt get seen till almost 12:30!! By that time, Taty was hungry and tired. So we rescheduled and went back at 4:00, after naps and lunch! The pictures came out wonderful! I am so proud of myself because even with everything going on in my personal life, I still managed to make this Christmas the best I can, and I also did all the traditions that I like to do by myself. I went Christmas shopping, took the girls to see Santa, got the tree and decorated it, took our Christmas card photo, and now got my Christmas pictures. So today, I am giving myself a pat on the back! LOL! Enjoy the pictures! I really think they came out wonderful!

Decorating the tree and Christmas card pictures!

So, as most of you know, or now will know, Christmas is my favorite time of year! I love decorating for it and putting the Christmas tree up! I begged Noemi for DAYS to get a Christmas tree (used to always get it right after Thanksgiving), so she finally caved and we got it. And it is HUGE! The girls had so much fun "helping" decorate. They didn't really help, more like pull them off as I was putting them on! Then, just like I have been doing the past couple of years, I took our Christmas card picture in front of the tree. Let me tell you, having two toddlers makes it so HARD to get a decent shot of them at the same time! I think I took a good 10 pictures of them before I got one of them both looking at me and smiling with eyes open and no fingers up their noses! Ugh, children!!!! I also got a few good ones of me and the girls. It was a bittersweet moment, because in the back of my mind, I knew that there was a person missing in the picture. But, I am trying to make the best of it as I can. Now, the house smells like wonderful pine and the decorations are coming along! Just need presents under the tree and it is a wrap! LOL!

Macy's Santaland

So, what’s better than living in New York during Christmas time?? Well, I can’t really think of anything else! This past weekend I took the kids with Noemi to Macy’s Santaland! What an adventure that was! It was the first time the girls rode on a train...Jasmine thought the train was cool! I don’t know how many times it is going to take me to learn that I can’t take Jasmine anywhere, especially in the city, without a nap! LOL! But, even through a few temper tantrums, we made it to Santaland! It was pretty amazing! The line wasn’t too long, we waited about an hour or so, but after going through Santaland, each part was escorted by different elves to see Santa! There were supposedly about 8 different Santa’s, but the way it was organized the kids had no idea, which I thought was really neat. Jasmine said hi to Santa, but refused to sit on his lap. Taty, just like last year, was not having it at all! So there I am, sitting next to Santa with two kids on my lap! Oh, the life of a mother! I wish I could have taken more of Macy’s in, but it was late and the girls were tired. Now, hopefully to see the tree at Rockafellar Center within the next week or so!
